BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas (April 29, 2011) – Diving experts inspect hinge pins in preparation for the removal of the floodgates at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Brazos River Floodgates. This work is part of a routine 9-10 year maintenance cycle gate rehabilitation conducted by the Corps. Work on the west gate, which includes gate removal, cleaning and sandblasting, deteriorated steel replacement, painting and reinstallation is expected to be completed Summer 2013.
