The Department of Defense (DOD) offers two markets for small, small disadvantaged, and small women-owned business concerns seeking defense contracting and defense subcontracting opportunities. The first market encompasses prime contracting; the second market encompasses Defense subcontracting opportunities.

Prime contracting opportunities with Galveston District, Corps of Engineers can be found here.
Prime contracting opportunities with other Federal Agencies can be found in the Commerce Business Daily.

The DoD requires major prime contractors and subcontractors receiving contracts valued over $500,000 ($1 million for construction) to develop plans and goals for subcontracting with small, small disadvantaged, and small women-owned businesses. This requirement generates a significant subcontracting opportunity market.

Major Prime contractors with the Galveston District, Corps of Engineers can be found here.
Major Prime contractors with other DoD agencies can be found here.

Large businesses looking for small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, and small women-owned businesses for subcontracting opportunities should actively research the Small Business Administration's PRO-Net database.

All small businesses should visit the Small Business Administration's (SBA) home page and register at SBA's PRO-Net site.
