  • Army Corps, partners complete first mile of Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay surge risk reduction mega-project

    On July 30, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its contractors successfully completed the first construction contract and first mile of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay coastal storm risk management program.
  • Galveston District publishes Notice of Availability for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and Public Meetings for the Port of Corpus Christi Authority’s Channel Deepening Project, Nueces and Aransas Counties, Texas (Department of The Army Permit Number SWG-2019-00067)

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District is publishing a notice of availability for the Port of Corpus Christi Authority’s (PCCA) Channel Deepening Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Department of the Army Permit SWG-2019-00067. USACE invites all affected federal, state, and local agencies, affected Native American Tribes, other interested parties, and the general public to participate in the (National Environmental Policy Act) NEPA process during the review and comment of the DEIS.
  • Wallisville Lake Project, Waterfowl Management Program is accepting seasonal duck blind drawing submissions

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, Wallisville Lake Project, Waterfowl Management Program is accepting seasonal duck blind drawing submissions by mail from May 1 to June 30 for the upcoming 2022/2023 waterfowl hunting season. A total of 50 seasonal duck blind construction permits will be offered along with 20 standby positions, for this upcoming season. Applicants may only apply for the duck blind drawing by mailing a 3 by 5 white notecard containing their name, address, telephone number and email.  Notecards must be mailed to Wallisville Lake Project Attn: Duck Blind Drawing P.O. Box 293 Wallisville, TX 77597.  Applicants are encouraged to purchase delivery confirmation to ensure their application was received, as there will be no way for the Project Office to confirm receipt once the notecard is placed into the drawing bin.
  • USACE Galveston District, Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 to co-host virtual update on Port Arthur project

     The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and its non-federal sponsor, the Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 (DD7), will co-host three virtual public information sessions, February 15-17, to provide an update on the Port Arthur Project as well as the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay (S2G) Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Program. These information sessions are being conducted virtually, exercising COVID-19 safety precautions for group gatherings as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention. The sessions will include information about project status and next steps, as well as a question-and-answer session following the presentation.
  • USACE Galveston District, to host virtual public meetings for Gulf Intracoastal Waterway Coastal Resilience Study (GIWW-CRS)

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and its Non Federal Partner (NFP), the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will co-host two virtual public meetings, February 14 & 17, to provide information to the public about the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway Coastal Resilience Study (GIWW-CRS) and the Tentatively Selected Plan (TSP), and to give the public an opportunity to officially make comments. These meetings are being conducted virtually, exercising COVID-19 safety precautions for group gatherings as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention.
  • Galveston District awards the Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Jetty and Entrance Channel Maintenance Dredging Contract

    GALVESTON, Texas - On April 17, 2021 the Galveston District awarded the Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Jetty and Entrance Channel Maintenance Dredging Contract with Beneficial Use Beach Placement at South Padre Island, Texas to Weeks Marine, Inc. for a total of $7,551,500.
  • USACE Cultural Investigations to Continue for Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Project in Port Arthur, Freeport and Orange County

    GALVESTON, Texas – The Swift River Versar Joint Venture, under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Regional Planning and Environmental Center, began conducting field investigations on May 4, 2021, in the Port Arthur area. These investigations will begin on the western arm of the Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 (DD7) levee near Taylors Bayou and will continue throughout the month of May, along the DD7 easement as well as on any properties in the Orange County and Freeport reaches for which additional rights-of-entry have been secured. It is anticipated that investigations in the Freeport area will begin in early to mid-June.
  • USACE Galveston District to host Industry Day for small business contractors

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Galveston District, will host a virtual Industry Day for small business government contractors March 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  The event helps small business navigate through the U.S. government’s contracting processes and presents upcoming work for fiscal year 2021.  It will also provide an opportunity for companies to network and meet potential vendors and subcontractors currently supporting the district’s contracting requirements. 
  • Galveston District will be knocking on doors in Orange County to secure rights-of-entry

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, Real Estate Division will be going door-to-door in Orange County on Oct.15, 2020, to secure rights-of-entry from individual landowners in order to access property as part of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay, Texas Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) and Ecosystem Restoration Project. The rights-of-entry are necessary to conduct various investigative activities (surveys, cultural resource investigations, geotechnical investigations). These investigative activities support the transition from conceptual designs to implementable project features and are necessary to continue to move conceptual designs forward to construction and these rights of entry are valid for up to 12 months. Landowners can specify that they want to be called before we access their property. USACE Galveston District personnel, and District-hired contractors, comply with those requests.
  • USACE Galveston District releases Buffalo Bayou Tributaries Resiliency Study Interim Report

    GALVESTON, Texas – Today the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District is releasing an Interim Report for the Buffalo Bayou and Tributaries Resiliency Study (BBTRS). The purpose of BBTRS is to identify, evaluate and recommend actions to address conditions that have changed flood risks around the Addicks and Barker reservoirs since their construction in the 1940s.
