The arrival of the Memorial Day holiday weekend will bring an increased level of outdoor activities throughout Texas, especially with outdoor recreation involving water activities at public beaches, in swimming pools, while boating and engaging in other aquatic-related activities.

    GALVESTON, Texas (June 24, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District partnered with the Houston Sail and Power Squadron (a unit of the United States Power Squadrons) to provide recreational boaters with free vessel safety examinations July 4-5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trinity River Island Recreation Area (also known as the Wallisville Lake Project Boat Ramp) in Wallisville, Texas.

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 11, 2014) –Bay City High School art students and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District partnered to paint three-feet high murals at four locations along the Corps-operated Colorado River Locks, to combat water-related fatalities at Corps’ owned and operated facilities.
