    GALVESTON, Texas (Jan. 18, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a task order contract in the amount of $267,807.37 to AECOM Technical Services for Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) survey data collection at 32 dredging placement areas at various locations along the Texas portion of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW).

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 14, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract to Orion Marine Construction Inc. in the amount of $8,876,000 for maintenance dredging of the Matagorda Ship Channel to include a critically shoaled area of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway near the entrance channel in Matagorda County, Texas.

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 9, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract to Orion Marine Construction Inc., in the amount of $2,687,000 for maintenance dredging of the lower reach of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway’s (GIWW) Channel to Victoria in Calhoun County, Texas.
  • USACE Galveston District to temporarily close GIWW

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 13, 2012) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, will temporarily close the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway at the West Gate of the Brazos River Floodgates beginning April 17, 2012, to conduct repair work and ensure the structural integrity of the west floodgate and guide walls along the navigation channel.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Jan. 30, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract in the amount of $3,390,250 to Mike Hooks Inc., for dredging of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway from Rollover Pass to the Galveston Causeway in Galveston County, Texas.
  • Corps stresses boating safety at GIWW to Bastrop dredge project

    GALVESTON, Texas (Jan. 19, 2012) – A dredge discharge pipeline will be placed inside the southeast end of placement area 58a on Jan. 22, 2012, as part of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway Causeway to Bastrop dredging project. Mariners are asked to use extreme caution when operating a vessel in the area and be aware of pipelines and floating markers.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Jan. 18, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District began placing dredged material from the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway Causeway to Bastrop dredging project on Placement Area 62 Jan. 17 following completion of work at the Greens Lake beneficial use site.
