    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and Jefferson County, signed a design agreement (DA) March 21 for the Jefferson County Ecosystem Restoration Project. The project was authorized by Congress in 2020 at an initial total project cost of $60M, which includes design and construction costs.

    WASHINGTON (Sept. 13, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, received a signed Chief of Engineers Report (Chief’s Report) for the proposed Jefferson County Ecosystem Restoration Project, Sept. 12, outlining the feasibility of providing shore protection and related improvements between Sabine Pass and the entrance to Galveston Bay, Texas, in the interest of protecting and restoring environmental resources on and behind the beach, to include the 77,000 acres of freshwater wetlands and the maritime resources of east Galveston Bay and Rollover Bay.
  • Jefferson County Ecosystem Restoration Study Public Notice

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 18, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District (USACE), in partnership with Jefferson County and the Sabine Neches Navigation District, is preparing an Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Jefferson County Ecosystem Restoration Study in Jefferson County, Texas. The study will help contribute to larger ongoing efforts to improve, preserve and sustain ecological resources along the Texas coast by stakeholder groups, non-governmental organizations and government agencies at the local, state and federal levels.
