  • Public Comment: Environmental Assessment for decommissioning and disposal of the MH-1A STURGIS Barge

    BALTIMORE (Jan. 24, 2014) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District conducted an Environmental Assessment to evaluate potential ecological, cultural, water, public health and safety and waste management effects associated with the proposed decommissioning and disposal of the MH-1A STURGIS, a former nuclear reactor barge. The Environmental Assessment determined there would be no significant environmental impact as a result of this proposed action.
  • USACE Galveston District begins repair work at Addicks and Barker dams; stresses public safety

    HOUSTON (Jan. 17, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District began repair work to the Addicks and Barker dams as part of interim risk reduction measures devised to further reduce risks associated with the existing structures while a permanent design solution is selected to replace the water control outlet structures in 2015.
  • Craft awarded SAME RVP Medal

    HOUSTON (Jan. 16, 2014) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District Civil Engineer Franchelle Craft was recognized with the Society of American Military Engineers’ Regional Vice President’s Medal yesterday during the Houston-Galveston Post’s Public Agency of the Year Banquet for her outstanding service to the society.
