  • USACE Galveston District awards $2.6 million contract to dredge channel to Victoria

    GALVESTON, Texas (July 31, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $2,664,500 to Orion Marine Group for maintenance dredging of the channel to Victoria in Calhoun County, Texas.
  • PUBLIC MEETING: Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Reconnaissance Study

    GALVESTON, Texas (July 30, 2014) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District is seeking representatives from federal, state and local governments and agencies, Indian tribes, non-governmental organizations, academia, business and industry and individuals interested in participating in public workshops for the purpose of gathering ideas for addressing coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration in the coastal Texas region. This outreach effort is being conducted in conjunction with the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Reconnaissance Study. We are interested in identifying available information and data that may be useful for this study.
  • USACE Chief Lt. Gen. Bostick visits region

    HOUSTON, Texas (July 24, 2014) – The 53rd U.S. Army Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, met with key stakeholders from the Port of Houston Authority (POHA) and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) to discuss Corps projects in the Galveston District during his July 23 visit to the region.
