  • USACE Galveston District and Cedar Bayou Navigation District sign partnership agreement

    GALVESTON, Texas (September 24, 2019) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and the Cedar Bayou Navigation District (CBND) are set to begin construction of the Cedar Bayou Channel Improvement Project. Construction of the project is expected to begin February 2020. A Project Partnership Agreement was formally signed by USACE Galveston District and CBND Sept. 23, which initiates the Channel Improvement Project.
  • Signed Chief’s Report released for Jefferson County Ecosystem Restoration Project

    WASHINGTON (Sept. 13, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, received a signed Chief of Engineers Report (Chief’s Report) for the proposed Jefferson County Ecosystem Restoration Project, Sept. 12, outlining the feasibility of providing shore protection and related improvements between Sabine Pass and the entrance to Galveston Bay, Texas, in the interest of protecting and restoring environmental resources on and behind the beach, to include the 77,000 acres of freshwater wetlands and the maritime resources of east Galveston Bay and Rollover Bay.
  • Wallisville Lake Project accepting feral hog permit applications

    WALLISVILLE, Texas (September 4, 2019)- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, Wallisville Lake Project Office, Feral Hog Management Program is accepting annual feral hog applications from Sept. 1- 30 for the upcoming 2019-2020 hog hunting season.

    GALVESTON, Texas (September 3, 2019) –Just shy of three years working for the Corps, Emily Drastata considers herself the “environmental voice” for the Operations and Maintenance projects at the Galveston District. As a physical scientist at USACE Galveston District, Drastata and her teammate Lisa Finn, environmental project manager, coordinate with the project delivery teams (PDTs) to ensure that compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act is achieved for all projects.
