  • USACE Galveston District announces pending closure for Corpus Christi Ship Channel South Jetty to repair damage caused by Hurricane Harvey

    UPDATED TO NOTE THE JETTIES ARE IN PORT ARANSAS: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District is giving public notice of the pending closure of portions of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel South Jetty to repair the jetty’s concrete cap. The closure is expected to begin on or about April 12, 2021 and last thru May 31, 2021 (Memorial Day weekend). The jetties are being repaired by USACE to fix wave damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall as a Category 4 storm.
  • Galveston District, Velasco Drainage District sign Project Partnership Agreement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and the Velasco Drainage District signed a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) March 16, 2021, to construct the Freeport and Vicinity Coastal Storm Risk Management Project (CSRM) element of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Authorized Project.
  • Galveston District evaluating permit application SWG-2015-00855

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District Regulatory Program is evaluating a Department of the Army permit application (SWG-2015-00855) submitted by Holtmar Land, LLC, for proposed dredging, bulkhead construction, and installation of three mooring piles at their project site located within, and adjacent to, the San Jacinto River.  This application is being evaluated under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.
