PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The applicant proposes to impact a total of 181 acres of wetlands with the construction of a 14.43-mile clay and sand berm (270,959 CY) along the coastline of the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge.  The proposed berm will be constructed from material excavated from onsite borrow areas and will consist of three segments:  Berm No. 2, Berm No. 1A, and Berm No. 1B.  The entire extent of the berm will be located approximately 600 feet inland and parallel to the current beach and will convert 63 acres of wetlands to uplands.  The borrow areas will be located parallel to, and landward of, the berm segments and consist of shallow, alternating areas that would be no more than 4 feet deep, 1,000 feet long, and 75 feet wide. The borrow areas will impact 118 acres of wetlands.
