Galveston District Projects

Mouth of the Colorado River  /  Colorado River Locks

The Mouth of the Colorado River and the Colorado River Locks/GIWW projects are closely entwined not only by proximity but also by the impacts that changes in these projects can have on one another. Variable environmental conditions such as river discharge rates and tides complicate the interaction further. While these projects fall under separate authorities with different regulations, both projects must be included in any analysis. This has led to some confusion concerning study purposes, authority, and scope. The following web pages document the background of both projects, the study progress and describes the models that have been developed to better understand issues associated with the projects and the impacts proposed measures will have on the projects.
