Texas Hurricane Evacuation Study

   The purpose of the Texas Hurricane Evacuation Study (HES) is to develop tools and information that will assist the State, County and City Emergency Management Offices decide who should evacuate during a hurricane threat and when the evacuation order should be given to insure all evacuees have enough time to get to safety.

   The primary study area for the Texas HES is Brazoria, Galveston, and Harris Counties. Products to be produced include updated storm surge maps, a GIS CD enabling users to access data, maps, and other information in a graphical format and a data CD compiling all study results and information. Critical facility analysis and vulnerable population analysis will be performed during the study process. A Transportation Analysis Model will also be produced to assess evacuation times.
