Wallisville Lake Project

The Wallisville Lake Project is 23,000+ acres along and on either side of the Trinity River from just below the lock and dam, north to just south of the community of Moss Bluff. The project is managed for the public good and for the benefit of the wildlife living in and migrating through the area. A balanced approach is applied to ensure that the needs and desires of the visiting public are met as nearly as possible without jeopardizing the wildlife and plants under the Corps’ care.

Marshes, bottomland riparian forests, swamps, and aquatic habitats are the major living spaces for the Project’s animals and plants. As a major portion of the Trinity River’s Estuary, the Project is influenced by both fresh and salt water due to tides and river flows.

Hiking, nature photography, bird watching, pleasure boating, kayaking and canoeing, and wildlife viewing are some of the many non-consumptive, ecologically friendly activities available to the visitor at the Wallisville Lake Project. Visitors are encouraged to take only photographs and memories, leave only foot prints on the Project.
