News Release ArchiveSurfside hosting Corps Wetlands WorkshopVillage leaders have invited the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Galveston District to conduct a wetlands workshop to educate the public on permitting issues from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Stahlman Park. “As both citizens and federal regulators, we empathize with the frustration in working within the complex laws and regulations regarding wetlands and development, and we are pleased that the Village of Surfside officials were insightful and proactive in requesting this workshop,” said Casey Cutler, compliance section chief of the regulatory branch corps’ Galveston District. The Galveston District will be presenting the following topics: Corps of Engineers jurisdiction, what the Corps regulates, identifying wetlands and applying for a permits and the different types of permits. Audience members may ask questions. Stahlman Park is at 2211 Bluewater Highway, Surfside Beach.
