USACE Addresses COVID-19 Concerns

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District makes public health and safety our top priority. This page provides COVID-19 updates focused on information that impacts Galveston District, its employees, stakeholders, and the local commuting area.

During emergencies, USACE is the federal government's lead public works and engineering support agency. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is prepared to assist the nation in a time of crisis to the very best of its capabilities, and we are postured to lean forward when an official request is received through the Department of Support for Civil Authorities (DSCA).

    Memo from the Director of Contracting re: COVID-19

  • Army Corps of Engineers modifying operations at recreation areas due to Coronavirus

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it has begun the orderly shutdown of all USACE-managed campgrounds to protect against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019. Visitor centers, beaches, special events, and USACE-sponsored events such as shore sweeps, interpretive programs, Kids to Parks Day, Earth Day events, public meetings and other public gatherings at all USACE-managed sites and facilities have also been closed and/or put on hold until further notice.  
  • Army Corps of Engineers adjust lake operations amid health concerns

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division announce changes to lake operations in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas amid health concerns. Effective today, the Southwestern Division will take a number of measures across the region to reduce risk to employees, volunteers and lakes guests.
