Statements on Federal Government Shutdown


In the event of a Government Shutdown employees will report to work Monday, March 26, 2018 at 0830 a.m.  At that time, furlough instructions will be provided.  Regulatory employees, who have already received their furlough letters, need to follow their supervisor's guidance.  Employees will receive updates via AD-HOC automated notification system. email or telephonic contact. 


In the event of a Government Shutdown:

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation facilities within the Southwestern Division and Galveston District region will close March 26, 2018. 
  • Recreational Facilities located within the Addicks and Barker Reservoir's are not affected and will remain open.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District's Wallisville Lake Project facilities will close. The office may be contacted at: 409-389-2314 to confirm access.
  • For recreational facilities located outside the Galveston District region, all USACE-operated campgrounds and day-use parks will close effective 10 a.m. on March. 26, 2018. 

       - Beginning March 26 and continuing through the end of the shutdown, no new visitors will be allowed into or reservations accepted for these recreation facilities.   

       - Customers scheduled to arrive while the shutdown is in effect may cancel their reservations for a full refund.                                                                              - 

  •  USACE leased concessions will remained opened.
  • Check and local Corps District websites for announcements. You may call the project directly; however, with reduced staffing, calls will be returned when existing staff are available 

 REGULATORY OFFICES:  (Permitting / Pre-Construction Notifications)

In the event of a Government Shutdown:

   Beginning March 26, 2018, all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory offices, to include the Galveston District, will shut down due to the absence of available federal appropriations.  During the shutdown, Regulatory offices will be unable to evaluate individual permit applications, pre-construction notifications (PCNs) for nationwide permit (NWP) or regional general permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations.  Work will resume when  offices reopen.
