Marciala Rudd Earns Administrative Professional of the Year Honors

Nominees were evaluated with six criteria; completion of tasks within timelines, accuracy and efficiency, self-respect and professionalism which reflects the standards expected of corps employees, commitment and identification with the district and its missions, exemplary representation of the district when working with the public and other offices, evidence of good working relationships and one year of experience in the administrative support field.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District (SWG) celebrated the work of Administrative Professionals (admins), April 22, 2026, at the Rosenberg Library in Galveston, Texas.

Nominees and supervisors gathered in the Randall Room for the SWG Administrative Professional of the Year ceremony and award presentation.

SWG Commander and District Engineer Colonel David Dake took time to recognize the work admins contribute to every project, every day.

“I can’t think of a role – not just in the Army Corps of Engineers but as you look across the federal government or any type of industry – that is more critical to success than what you all do, every day.”

Four admins were nominated for the Administrative professional of the Year Award: Donna Brown, Corpus Christi Resident Office project assistant, Jory Neal-Braswell, Engineering and Construction Division (E&C), administrative support assistant, Marciala Rudd, E&C administrative support assistant and Jessica Sark, E&C administrative support assistant.

Nominees were evaluated with six criteria; completion of tasks within timelines, accuracy and efficiency, self-respect and professionalism which reflects the standards expected of corps employees, commitment and identification with the district and its missions, exemplary representation of the district when working with the public and other offices, evidence of good working relationships and one year of experience in the administrative support field.

SWG Chief of Staff Eric Schourek hosted the event. He began the ceremony with the history of the observance and admins’ contributions to SWG missions.

“To all of our administrative professionals in the Galveston District, we’re proud of the work you do day-in and day-out, and we thank you; we literally could not do it without you,” Schourek said.

This year’s winner was Marciala Rudd, for her dedicated support to the mission.

When nominating her, John McClain, Northern Area Office, Area Engineer wrote, Marciala demonstrates professionalism in the highest regards with her dedication to ensuring she completes her work duties and tasks as assigned. She never fails to seek guidance when needed and her work exemplifies her dedication to the mission.

Marciala was awarded a dedicated parking spot for the next year, an “On the Spot” cash award, and her name was added to Administrative Professional of the Year “Wall of Fame,” which hangs in the Jadwin Building Executive Office.
