Public Notice         Project Plans

The applicant is proposing to relocate and permanently berth the Battleship Texas which will consist of installing 1) four 84-inch-diameter metal support pile dolphins, 2) one 360-foot by 20-foot access pier that will be supported by twenty 18-inch square concrete piles, 3) two 40-foot by 12-foot access gangways spanning from the proposed access pier to the Battleship Texas, and 4) one access building and walkway extending from the existing bulkhead to the proposed access pier.  The proposed support pile dolphins will be pneumatically installed to depths sufficient to ensure structural integrity and positioned such that the Battleship Texas is permanently moored parallel to the Galveston Ship Channel and along the existing Pier 21 bulkhead wall.  The applicant stated that the proposed design exhibits an approximate 92-foot setback from the federal channel limits of the Galveston Ship Channel.  No dredging is required for the proposed project.
