PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The applicant proposes to construct a new public oil dock (Oil Dock 14) and dredge an associated basin along the northern shoreline of the CCSC.  Two different options will be considered.

Option 1 (Ship Dock Layout) would dredge a new 10.6-acre basin to a total depth of -56 feet MLT (-50 feet plus 2 feet advance maintenance, plus 2 feet allowable overdepth).  Approximately 675,000 cubic yards of material would be hydraulically dredged and/or mechanically excavated and placed within the following dredged material placement areas (DMPAs):  Suntide DMPA, DMPA No. 6, Southshore DMPA Cell C and/or Cell B.  Side slopes of the proposed basin would vary, but typically constructed at a 2:1 to 3:1 slope, with the proposed emergent top of slope ranting from +/-0 feet to +/-15 feet.  A 200-foot-long by 100-foot-side ship dock and an approximate 1,365-foot-long linear sheetpile bulkhead with six 13-foot by 9-foot mooring dolphins would be constructed in this option.  Approximately 1,420 cubic yards of articulated concrete block mat or riprap revetment, encompassing approximately 0.55 acre, may be placed along the eastern and western basin limits for shoreline stabilization.  Two catwalks, each measuring 150 feet long by 4 feet wide, would extend from the eastern and western sides of the proposed ship dock.  Two 15-foot by 21-foot by 9-foot breasting dolphins or two 96-inch steel monopoles would be placed along each catwalk.

Option 2 (Barge Dock Layout) would dredge a 5.7-acre basin to a total depth of -18 feet MLT (-16 feet plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth).  Approximately 150,000 cubic yards of material would be hydraulically dredged and/or mechanically excavated and placed within the following DMPAs:  Suntide DMPA, DMPA No. 6, Southshore DMPA Cell C and/or Cell B.  The proposed basin side slopes would be typically constructed at a 2:1 to 3:1 side slope with the proposed emergent top of slope ranging from +/-0 feet to +/-15 feet. A 200-foot-long by 78-foot-wide barge dock and an approximate 214-foot-long linear sheetpile bulkhead would be constructed in this option.  Two 66-inch-diameter steel monopole breasting/mooring structures or one 30-inch-diameter and three 24-inch-diameter steel pipe piles would be located on both the east and west sides of the barge dock.  Approximately 2,581 cubic yards of articulated concrete block mat or riprap revetment, encompassing 1.6 acres, may be placed along the eastern and western basin shorelines for shoreline stabilization.
