PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The applicant proposes to excavate, grade, and discharge fill material into approximately 14.2 acres of existing wetlands to create a regional drainage relief pond and a pump station.  The development of the drainage relief pond proposes to impact 6.1 acres of forested wetlands, 3.8 acres of scrub/shrub wetlands, 4.3 acres of emergent wetlands, and 7.7 acres of open water.  The purpose of the project is to provide drainage relief to the east region of the City of Shenandoah.  The City desires to retain the existing natural aesthetic and recreation potential associated with the existing open water on the site for public access.  To achieve this the applicant proposes to construct a wet bottom amenity with landscaping.
