Port Isabel is a deep water port, established in 1929 to serve the construction, agricultural produce, and oil and gas production industries. The port is located just 4.5 miles from the South Padre Island jetties and shipped upwards of 30,000 tons in 2020 to domestic destinations. The port is also home to a shrimp dock andserves a thriving commercial shrimping fleet.
