SWG Uses Coastal Hazard System to Track Water Levels
The Galveston District (SWG) uses the Engineer Research and Development Center’s Coastal Hazards System (CHS) to see the latest water levels, wave loads, and frequency of flooding in the areas we're protecting, as well as storm and flood simulations. We're also using CHS to reassess the project so as the map is being updated the water level statistics are changing. We're looking back at the system on a recurring basis to say this part of the system is no longer sufficient, or it now provides this amount of protection and then we're able to give that to our partners to communicate it back out to the public.
