Vicksburg District Electricians Perform Repairs at the Galveston District’s Colorado River Locks
Andrew Picard, an electrician with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District replaces a relay box in a control room of the USACE Galveston District’s Colorado River Locks in Matagorda Texas July 12, 2024. Picard and other electricians from the Vicksburg District travel to USACE locations all over the region using their specialized skills and certifications to assist with electrical repairs. The Colorado River Locks provide navigation access through the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, assisting vessels crossing the intersection of the Colorado River. They enable the transit of more than 12,000 tows, over 30,000 recreational or commercial vessels, and 20 million tons of product annually, significantly impacting the local, state, and national economies.
