PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The applicant proposes to construct an 11,000 linear foot near-shore segmented rock breakwater parallel to the Virginia Point shoreline to provide protection from further shoreline erosion.  All impacts will occur in Galveston Bay.  The project site does not contain any wetlands and impacts to existing oyster reefs would be avoided.  Two alternative project designs are being considered for this project.
