Full Public Notice    Project Plans

The applicant proposes to widen the approximately 3,800- foot-long East Wye Channel from its current 200-foot width to approximately 350 feet in width.  The proposed project will start to the north of the Wye Channel Island and connect to the Brownsville Ship Channel to the south.  Additionally, the channel will be deepened from -32.00 to -38.00 feet NAVD 88 with a permitted overdepth of 2.00 feet.  Approximately 195,630 cubic yards of material is to be removed by hydraulic dredge and deposited in the existing Dredge Disposal Area 3 Brazos Island Project located to the west of the project site.  The applicant is also requesting a 10-year maintenance dredge permit for this same channel.  It is expected that approximately 20,000 cubic yards of dredged material will result from maintenance dredging of the 30.5 acre area over a 10-year period.
