Industry Day Workshop

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District will host a Small Business Industry Day May 4, 2016 at the Jadwin Building, 2000 Fort Point Road, Galveston, TX  77550. The purpose of this Industry Day is to conduct market research at the programmatic level in order for SWG to establish acquisition plans for fiscal year 2017 as well as to provide an opportunity to partner with local contractors to maximize interest in the district's contracting requirements. There will be representatives from the district's Operations and Management Office, Project Management Office, Construction Management Office and Architectural and Engineering Office to give brief overviews of their requirements.

REGISTER HERE.  Late registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m.

This one-day event will consist of presentations by the offices referenced above in the morning session and  an open forum with tables set up in rooms 175 and 185 for the attendees to visit with staff. There will also be two breakout sessions that will be held after lunch, in conjunction with the open forum.

Forecast of Contracting

The USACE Galveston District forecast of contracting opportunities informs vendors of anticipated contracts offered during the current fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2015, through Sept. 30, 2016).

Small Business Office

USACE Galveston District supports the government’s policy of placing a fair proportion of district contracts with qualified small, small disadvantaged, women-owned, veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran owned and historically Black College and Universities/minority institutions. We consider small business to be the heart of the U.S. economy and a very vital part of the Corps’ procurement process.

HBCU/MI Workshop

GALVESTON, Texas (March 2, 2016)--U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District hosted an Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Institutions (HBCUs/MIs) Workshop to explore research, educational and commercial partnering opportunities that can assist with both the USACE Galveston District and higher education institutions' missions. Ken Adams, USACE Galveston District director for small business programs, explained that this partnership can provide increased real world opportunities to students as well as provide potential resource sharing. The district buys a variety of construction, engineering, environmental and facility support services as well as equipment/ supplies.Examples of these acquisitions are as follows:

•Construction -- Roads, levees, dams, dredging and navigation.

•Engineering Services -- Concept studies, master planning, engineering studies, all types of surveying and mapping, engineering design and construction and inspection services.

•Environmental Services -- Consulting Services, remediation, studies and investigations.

•Other Services -- Refuse collection, grounds maintenance, janitorial, recreational parks, real estate appraisal and title searches.

•Supplies and Equipment -- Generators, turbines, HVAC equipment, electronic gear, repair parts, lumber, rip.rap, stone, cement, and pre-fab modular buildings.
