From left, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, Deputy District Engineer for Programs and Project Management, Mr. Byron D. Williams and Deputy Commander for Mega Projects, Lt. Col. Ian P. O’Sullivan listen to a 2024 Hurricane Season forecast from the National Weather Service in Houston and look at possible hurricane path models during a hurricane preparedness tabletop exercise in Galveston, Texas, June 10, 2024. The Atlantic Hurricane Season lasts June 1 to Nov. 30. Everyone living on the Texas Coast should visit ready.gov/plan to get ready for hurricanes and flooding. The Galveston District routinely conducts hurricane preparedness exercises in efforts to continuously execute their mission should the need arise. The district has been instrumental in hurricane and storm management and recovery efforts for more than 100 years since the initial construction of the Galveston Seawall was completed in 1904.
