USACE, GCPD Sign Design Agreement for Coastal Texas Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District (SWG) and the Gulf Coast Protection District (GCPD) signed a Design Agreement, August 14, 2024, to partner on the design of the Coastal Texas Project (CTX), specifically the Galveston Bay Storm Surge Barrier System and Ecosystem Restoration feature G-28.

SWG Continues Effort Seeking Right-Of-Entry from Orange County Property Owners

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District real estate specialists will be going door to door seeking rights of entry (ROEs) from Orange County property owners on Aug. 11. This month’s trip is necessary to complete the effort initiated on Jul. 14, 2023, and if needed, a follow up trip may also be scheduled for Aug 25.

Water Resources Development Act of 2022 signed into law, authorizing advancement of Coastal Texas Program

President Biden signed the Water Resources Development Act of 2022 into law on December 23, 2022, which includes authorization of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Coastal Texas Program. This legislative action officially authorizes USACE to begin implementation activities for this large-scale coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration program, pending appropriation of funding.
