  • Notice to mariners - Bayport Flare and Houston Ship Channel

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 6, 2013) – Mariners are advised to be aware of an increase in waterborne hazards in the Bayport Flare and Houston Ship Channel, as a result of maintenance dredging work scheduled to begin this month and continue through October 2014.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 4, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $5,180,000 to RLB Contracting Inc., to perform maintenance dredging within the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, specifically from Corpus Christi Bay to Port Isabel, Texas.

  • District awards $8 million contract to dredge Corpus Christi Ship Channel

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 3, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $8,054,750 to Orion Marine Inc., to perform maintenance dredging within the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, specifically from the inner basin (lower bay) to Beacon 82 (upper bay) and the La Quinta Junction and channel, in Nueces County, Texas.

  • District partners with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to complete $30 million complex in Corpus Christi, Texas

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 3, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District partnered with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to complete the $30,063,931 design-build U.S. Customs and Border Protection Facility in Corpus Christi, Texas, and will celebrate this milestone with the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector and Office of Field Operations during an open house ceremony Dec. 5.

  • USACE Galveston District awards $21.2 million contract to dredge Houston Ship Channel

    GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 27, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $21,253,000 to Weeks Marine, Inc. for maintenance dredging of the Bayport Flare and Houston Ship Channel.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 22, 2013) – For decades the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District employees have been opening their hearts and wallets to support the annual Combined Federal Campaign, raising $23,805.06 this year to support those less fortunate.

  • District partners with Galveston Park Board to launch Sand Management Cost Shared Study

    GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 21, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District partnered with the Galveston Park Board of Trustees to launch the implementation of the Sand Management Cost Shared Study today. The district and the Galveston Park Board of Trustees pursued a sand management cost-shared study following the establishment of a partnership last year to develop a science-based sand management strategy that could potentially prevent erosion of the island’s shoreline and reduce the long-term cost of beach maintenance.

  • USACE Galveston District awards small business contract for routine testing of dredged material

    GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 13, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, awarded a contract to Sol Engineering LLC, an 8(a) small business, in the amount of $49,220.82 for environmental services to include chemical and grain size analyses of water and sediment samples from the federally-maintained Houston Ship Channel.

  • Craft recognized as BEYA STEM Science Spectrum Trailblazer

    GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 7, 2013) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District Civil Engineer Franchelle Craft was selected as a Science Spectrum Trailblazer Award recipient by the 28th Black Engineer of the Year Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Global Competitiveness Conference, an honor bestowed upon minority men and women who actively create new paths for others in science, research, technology and development.

  • USACE Galveston District awards contract for geotechnical services at dredging placement area

    GALVESTON, Texas (Oct. 31, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, awarded a contract in the amount of $178,798.11 to Quaternary Resource Investigations LLC for routine soil sampling and laboratory testing at the Alexander Island Dredge Material Placement Area adjacent to the Houston Ship Channel.
