USACE Galveston District partners with HSPS to promote safety on the water during 4th of July

GALVESTON, Texas (June 26, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District partnered with the Houston Sail and Power Squadron (a unit of the United States Power Squadrons) to provide recreational boaters with free vessel safety examinations June 29-30 and July 4 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Trinity River Island Recreation Area (also known as the Wallisville Lake Project Boat Ramp) in Wallisville, Texas. USACE Galveston District finalizes Freeport’s periodic inspection findings; public meeting scheduled

GALVESTON, Texas (June 11, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District completed its review of the 2012 periodic inspection of the Freeport and Vicinity Hurricane Flood Protection Project, which concluded in an overall rating of unacceptable. The local sponsor, Velasco Drainage District, will host a public meeting June 13 at 6 p.m. at the Lake Jackson Civic Center, 333 Highway 332 East Lake Jackson, TX 77566, to discuss these findings.
