  • USACE Galveston District awards $13.2 million contract to dredge Galveston, Houston ship channels

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 30, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $13,287,950 to Seattle, Wash.-based Manson Construction Company to perform maintenance dredging within the Galveston inner and outer bar, entrance channel and a portion of the Houston Ship Channel.

  • USACE Galveston District awards $12.7 million contract to dredge Neches River Channel

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 29, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $12,747,180 to Dyersburg, Tenn.-based Inland Dredging Company, LLC, for dredging of the Neches River Channel in Jefferson and Orange counties, Texas.

  • USACE Galveston District stresses water safety during this Labor Day weekend

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 29, 2013) – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District joins its partners: Safe Kids Greater Houston, Telemundo, Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark and Bass Pro Shops, in encouraging safe water recreation activities over the Labor Day weekend.

  • USACE Galveston District signs Cooperation Agreement with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

    CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Aug. 23, 2013) –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District signed a Cooperation Agreement with Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi today, a Hispanic-serving institution, to commit the two organizations to work together to enhance opportunities for minority students throughout the Corps.

  • USACE Galveston District finishes maintenance on Brazos River Floodgates

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 22, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District is scheduled to reinstall the East Brazos River Floodgates Aug. 28-29 following a yearlong refurbishing process in which each of the 80-ton sector gates along with an additional 40 tons of organic material were removed for repair and cleaning to restore and enhance their structural integrity and operation.

  • USACE Galveston District partners to support GLO’s TxSed Geodatabase Project

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 20, 2013) – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District staff partnered with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and scientists at Texas research universities to populate a centralized repository of information along the Texas coast called the Texas Coastal Sediment Geodatabase (TxSed).
