PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The applicant requests a 10-year extension of time for Department of the Army (DA) Permit SWG-1992-02707, which will expire on 31 December 2019.  The existing permit authorizes maintenance dredging at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station intake pumping facility.  The applicant approximates dredging operations every 3 years, and averaging 15,000 to 18,000 cubic yards per event.  This permit also authorizes maintenance dredging directly in front of the intake structure.  Periodic dredging is necessary to assure a reliable intake water supply for cooling required by the generating station.
