Full Public Notice    Project Plans

The applicant proposes to fill and excavate below the plane of the ordinary high water mark to improve floodwater conveyance and to increase erosion control.  The portion of the waterway located between Orange Street and Taylor Street would be widened, the side slopes would be graded to a 3:1 slope, Shoretec erosion control Shoreblocks would be placed at the bottom of the channel; a bankfull bench would be included as a design feature.  Shoreblocks are articulated concrete mats that provide permeability and allow vegetation growth through the mats.  The portion of the waterway located between Taylor Street and approximately 800 feet south of Alamo Street would be widened, the side slopes would be graded to a 3:1 slope, and a bankfull bench would be established.  This portion of the proposed project would not include the placement of concrete blocks.  All side slopes and areas disturbed during construction would be revegetated with native grasses and forbs.  Excavated material would be hauled away from the project area and would be placed in an upland area.
