Full Public Notice    Project Plans

The applicant proposes an extension of time to complete a previously authorized project to hydraulically dredge a 1,200-foot-long section of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel around the land masses for the old Tule Lake Bridge from Corp of Engineers Station 1302+00 to Station 1314+00.  The project would involve the removal of approximately 150,000 cubic yards of material so that the channel would match the existing channel dimensions adjacent to the subject area.  To accomplish the dredging around the land masses, the applicant would construct cofferdams around the structures to be removed and temporarily place the material excavated from behind the cofferdam in the areas immediately around the structures until the main dredging activity took place.  Approximately 30,000 cubic yards of material would be removed to expose the structures for removal.  The applicant also proposes to redistribute existing stone riprap evenly along approximately 200 linear feet of the channel where the land masses were located.  The channel would be approximately -45 feet Mean Low Tide and 300 feet wide at the toe of the cut with approximate 1H:2V slopes on each side of the channel.  The applicant requests a 10-year maintenance dredging program for the project area.  Dredged material would be placed in one of the following authorized Dredged Material Placement Areas (DMPAs):  Tule Lake DMPA No. 6, Cell A and/or Cell B, and/or Cell C.
