Full Public Notice          Project Plans

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The applicant proposes to place up to 14,000 cubic yards of beach quality sand (that is compatible with the existing beach material) per nourishment event on an approximately 1,700-linear-foot stretch of McGee Beach.  The City of Corpus Christi plans to conduct two nourishment events during the permit period.  The material would be sourced from Wright Materials, a sand supplier located in Nueces County.  The material would be analyzed per Texas Commission on Environmental Quality guidance for contaminants, as well as for grain size compatibility.  The sand placement would begin at a point immediately north of the terminal groin, located at the southern end of the project area.  Sand placement would end at a point just south of the existing breakwater at the Corpus Christi Marina.  The proposed project would result in the placement of beach-quality material over a total of approximately 4.18 acres of existing beach within jurisdictional areas below the Annual High Tide line, per event.  The nourishment would increase the existing beach up to 180 feet at the most eroded section of the project area.
