  E. Manning Seltzer Honorary Award: Alex Petty was recognized for significant and special contributions to the Corps through the development of legal theory, innovation or problem solving.
  Communitas Award: The USACE Galveston District earned a Communitas Award in the Making a Difference category for its #EWeek community outreach campaign to spark students’ interest in Science Technology, Engineering and Math subjects, help counter stereotypes and increase participation of underrepresented groups in STEM careers.
  Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter: Grand Excalibur: Community Relations Program, Communicating Corps responsibilities along the Texas coast.
  Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter: Gold Excalibur Award: Community Relations Program, Communicating Corps responsibilities along the Texas coast.
  Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter: Gold Excalibur Award: Multicultural, Corps in the Classroom: Building tomorrow’s leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
  Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter: Silver Excalibur Award: Public Service Program, Selling water safety to save lives: Army engineers collaborate to combat water-related fatalities.
  Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter: Silver Excalibur Award: Social Media, #STEMInspiration: Inspiring tomorrow’s leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM).
  Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter: Government Communications Team of the Year.
  International Association of Dredging Companies: Kim Townsend and her team (Eric Wood, Derek Thornton, Jantzen Miller, Tricia Campbell, Sheridan Willey and Rob Thomas) were recognized for their work that contributed to winning the IADC Young Author Award.
  USACE: The district's Safety Office was recognized with a Chief of Engineers Award of honor for safety for 2013.
  USACE: USACE Locke L. Mouton Public Affairs Award of Excellence, First Place, Sandra Arnold, APR+M, with assistance from Isidro Reyna, APR. The annual Mouton Awards honor individual public affairs practitioners for superior achievement in media relations and public information, community relations, command information and emergency/disaster response. Arnold was recognized in the Community Relations Category for the district's Water Safety Campaign.
  Colorado River Locks: The International Boating and Water Safety Summit recognized Simon DeSoto, Colorado River Locks lockmaster, with a third place award in the Audio Public Service Announcement category for his "Strike Out Drowning!" radio PSA and his continued contributions to water safety during 2013. International Competition.
  Colorado River Locks: The National Water Safety Congress recognized Simon DeSoto, Colorado River Locks lockmaster, with the 2013 Award of Merit for his outstanding contributions to water safety during 2013. Nationwide Competition.
  U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Herbert A. Kassner Award: First Place: Community Relations Program –Communicating Corps responsibilities along the Texas coast. The USACE Galveston District was no exception to the careful oversight of taxpayers, who scrutinized every dollar the federal government spent during 2013 – a year filled with federal budget cuts, hiring freezes, reduction in district services and a government shutdown. Realizing the importance of conveying to the public its relevancy and the impact its services have on strengthening the nation’s security, energizing the economy and reducing risks from disasters, staff launched a campaign to engage the public, increase awareness of our efforts along the Texas coast and build on our reputation and relevancy.
  USACE Herbert A. Kassner Award: First Place: Community Relations Special Event – Communicating a Campaign to Save Shorelines Tasked with increasing the Texas coastal residents’ awareness and understanding of the district’s missions along the coast, staff hosted a one-day media event to communicate in English and Spanish the district’s shoreline restoration efforts.

Kassner Award: First Place: Digital Communication Campaign – #STEMInspiration CampaignInspiring tomorrow’s leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Nineteen percent of the Corps’ 36,600 workforce qualify for immediate retirement and 22 percent for early retirement, leaving the agency to struggle with a shrinking pool of college graduates with degrees in science, technology, engineering and math fields who are critical to the success of military missions and national security. To address this growing problem, the USACE Galveston District launched #STEMInspiration as part of Corps in the Classroom: Building Tomorrow’s Leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, an aggressive community outreach and social media campaign to spark students’ interest in STEM subjects, help counter stereotypes and increase participation of underrepresented groups in STEM careers.
  USACE Herbert A. Kassner Award: First Place: Audio Spot Production: STEM Inspiration Campaign Public Service Announcement. The 60 second radio public service announcement is a component of the Corps in the Classroom: Building Tomorrow’s Leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math campaign. The PSA was broadcast on Happy Radio 92.5 FM.
  Public Relations Society of America: Silver Anvil Award of Excellence: Multicultural Public Relations, Association/Government/Nonprofit Organizations Category for the district's Water Safety Campaign.

  Southwestern Division: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District's Science, Technology, Engineering and Math outreach team, that included Franchelle Craft, Eduardo Irigoyen and Tosin Sekoni, was recognized as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division STEM Outreach Group of the Quarter.
