Galveston District celebrates Women’s Equality Day

Anthony, shared the story of the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848, the first convention to promote women’s right to vote, and the decades of protesting it took to pass the 19th Amendment. The observance recognizing Women’s Equality Day was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1971. Women’s Equality Day is observed nationally on the 26th day of August and commemorates the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. Dozens of people attended the observance in person and online.
