USACE Galveston District awards $4.8 million maintenance dredging contract for Houston Ship Channel

GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 30, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract in the amount of $4,848,500 to Weeks Marine Inc. for maintenance dredging of the Houston Ship Channel from Exxon to Carpenters Bayou in Harris County, Texas.

USACE Galveston District awards small business contract for shoreline protection at Pelican Island Placement Area

GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 22, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $2,123,000 to RLB Contracting Inc, a small business, for placement of rip rap and articulating concrete block in order to minimize erosion of the existing Pelican Island Placement Area containment dikes in Galveston County, Texas.

USACE Galveston District awards small business environmental services contract

GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 11, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $254,707.25 to SOL Engineering Service LLC, a small business, for environmental services to include the collection and analyses of water and sediment samples from the federally-maintained Freeport, entrance and jetty channels.

GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 1, 2015) – Often spending his summers in the Texas hill country, building makeshift dams and playing in creeks in his younger years, Andrew Weber’s fascination with moving water hasn’t changed. As a civil engineer, specializing in geotechnical engineering, his work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District allows him to continue studying water and the impact it has on soil properties to prevent against loss of life and property for thousands of Houstonians.
