  • President's FY17 Budget for USACE Civil Works released

    Galveston, Texas (Feb. 29, 2016) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District will receive new feasibility funding for the Houston Ship Channel and Coastal Texas studies; continued funding for the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, Brazos River Flood Gates and Colorado River Locks as well as the Matagorda Ship Channel widening and deepening; construction funding for Addicks and Barker dams in Houston, and continued Operation and Maintenance funding for the Texas waterways in the president’s fiscal year 2017 budget for the Corps’ Civil Works program.
  • USACE Galveston District to host Stakeholder Partnering Forum

    GALVESTON, Texas (Feb. 29, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District will meet with non-federal sponsors, customers and agency partners to collaborate on best practices regarding programs ranging from environmental to flood risk management, dredging the Texas coast and regulatory oversight of U.S. waters during a Stakeholder Partnering Forum, March 3, at the district’s headquarters building located at 2000 Fort Point Road, Galveston, TX 77550.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Feb. 23, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a small business contract in the amount of $1,684,300 to Shoreline Foundation Inc., for dewatering of Dredged Material Placement Area 14 in Chambers County, Texas.
  • USACE Galveston District spotlight on Paulino Hernandez Sandoval

    GALVESTON, Texas (Jan. 6, 2016) – Growing up in Mexico, Paulino Hernandez Sandoval spent his days working in the vineyards to pay for night school. While picking grapes and thinking about what he planned to do with his future, he often paused to notice the busy engineers working on a nearby dam construction project. Interested in what they were doing, he would devote his breaks to talking with the engineers and learning about the field. By the end of the summer he surmised that if they could do it, so could he and thus began his journey to becoming an engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 11, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a $6,104,050 contract to Mike Hooks Inc., for maintenance dredging of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) navigation channel from the Galveston Causeway to Bastrop Bayou in Galveston in Galveston County, Texas.
  • USACE Galveston District to begin beach renourishment project at South Padre Island

    GALVESTON, Texas (Oct. 7, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District partnered with the Texas General Land Office and the City of South Padre Island to begin a beach renourishment project this week using beach-quality sand harvested from the Brazos Island Harbor Jetty and Entrance channels in South Texas, maintenance dredging project.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 22, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $2,123,000 to RLB Contracting Inc, a small business, for placement of rip rap and articulating concrete block in order to minimize erosion of the existing Pelican Island Placement Area containment dikes in Galveston County, Texas.
