Galveston District to host career fair

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District (SWG) will host a Career Fair at the Moody Gardens Convention Center, Jan. 18, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hiring managers from all SWG branches will be present to provide information on the different positions available.

Corps announces temporary closure of north jetty ahead of construction repairs

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas– The Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded an Option/additional work in the amount of $8,860,090 on Sept. 3, for additional areas of repair on the North Jetty under the Corpus Christi Ship Channel - Entrance Channel Jetty Repairs contract. This additional awarded work increased the jetty repair contract to $48.3 million. The additional work area will require temporary closure of the north jetty beginning on Oct. 5.

Wallisville Lake Project now accepting applications for the 2020 – 2021 feral hog removal season

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office staff is now accepting applications for feral hog removal using trained dogs and trapping. The project will offer 30 permits to individuals using trained dogs through a random drawing. Applications from dog hunters will be accepted during the month of September. A limited number of trapping permits will also be available throughout the year to those interested in trapping feral hogs on project lands.

Addicks and Barker Reservoirs launch Feral Hog Management Program and permit drawing

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, Addicks Field Office is launching a Feral Hog Management Program and is accepting annual feral hog applications from Sept. 15 thru Oct. 15, for the upcoming 2020-2021 hog trapping season.

JJ Mayes Wildlife Trace closure at Wallisville Lake Project

WALLISVILLE, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District will close the J.J. Mayes Wildlife Trace at the Wallisville Lake Project on April 23 in order to improve the west non-overflow dam road to increase public safety.

GALVESTON, Texas – On April 7, The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District published a notice of intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Port Corpus Christi’s proposed Channel Deepening Project. To ensure that all of the issues related to this proposed project are addressed, the Corps will conduct public scoping meetings, at which agencies, organizations, and members of the general public present comments or suggestions with regard to the range of actions, alternatives, and potential impacts to be considered in the EIS.

USACE Galveston District awards second Corpus Christi Ship Channel dredging contract

GALVESTON, Texas – Yesterday the Galveston District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a second multi-million dollar contract for the Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project. Callan Marine, LTD, of Galveston, Texas, will receive $97.9 million, including the base contract and seven options, to dredge Lower Bay Reach as part of Corps efforts to deepen and widen the Corpus Christi Ship Channel. Five more options are contained in the contract and could be activated at a later date.
