    GALVESTON, Texas (August 16, 2017) – The Galveston District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosted the Summer 2017 Stakeholder Partnering Forum, August 15-16, at its district headquarters.

  • Drainage District No. 7 and the Corps work to repair damaged floodwall

    GALVESTON, Texas (August 4, 2017) – Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 notified the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of a floodwall failure near Taylor Bayou Tuesday morning. The floodwall is part of the Port Arthur and Vicinity Hurricane Flood Protection system. As a result of the floodwall’s current condition, we do not have confidence that it will withstand a local tropical storm or hurricane.

    GALVESTON, Texas (July 5, 2017) – Throughout her childhood, Katie Parks moved a total of nine times. She lived in eight different states in the U.S. including a move overseas to Germany. Parks and her brother were the staple military kids who faced the many obstacles of relocation, constant change, and readjustments. With a father who is a retired U.S. Army colonel and a mother who retired from TRADOC as a budget analyst, it’s no surprise Parks took a career path that had the military elements of her father mixed with the financial aspects of her mother’s career.

  • Corps issues draft feasibility report for Resacas at Brownsville Ecosystem Restoration Study

    GALVESTON, Texas (June 13, 2017) – The Galveston District, US Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) informs the public of the release of the draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Resacas at Brownsville Ecosystem Restoration Study in Cameron County, Texas.

    GALVESTON, Texas (June 8, 2017) – Thanh Nguyen was just five years old when she and her family fled the country of Vietnam. They partook on a dangerous voyage by boat when it started to malfunction. By the grace of a captain on a nearby boat, they were rescued and escorted to Thailand. There, her family had the choice between the United States, France, or Australia. In hopes of a better life and greater opportunity, her family chose to settle in the Unites States of America where they called New York their new home.

  • USACE Galveston District awards small business task order for routine testing of dredged material

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 4, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, awarded a small business contract to ANAMAR Environmental Consulting Inc., a small business, in the amount of $304,483.14 for environmental services to include collection and laboratory analyses of water and sediment samples from the federally-maintained Brazos Island Harbor to the Brownsville Ship Channel.

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 4, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $855,080 to Environmental Industrial Services Group Inc., for the dewatering of Houston Ship Channel Peggy Lake Placement Area.

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 2, 2017) – With both parents working for the city of Chicago Illinois, Timmy Walls was raised looking up to two positive figures with strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude. Modeling after his parents, Walls elected to pursue a career in which he could feel challenged and fulfilled. Now, a construction control representative for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, Walls embraces every opportunity to learn and strive for excellence in his everyday tasks.
