  • SWG accepting public comments on Metro Houston Regional Watershed Assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District has published a Draft Metropolitan Houston Regional Watershed Assessment (MHRWA) and will accept public comment from June 10 to July 10  on the study findings, which summarize existing flood risk management activities and recommends actions to coordinate and improve effectiveness of FRM across agencies in the region.

  • Galveston District awards the Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Jetty and Entrance Channel Maintenance Dredging Contract

    GALVESTON, Texas - On April 17, 2021 the Galveston District awarded the Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Jetty and Entrance Channel Maintenance Dredging Contract with Beneficial Use Beach Placement at South Padre Island, Texas to Weeks Marine, Inc. for a total of $7,551,500.

  • USACE Cultural Investigations to Continue for Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Project in Port Arthur, Freeport and Orange County

    GALVESTON, Texas – The Swift River Versar Joint Venture, under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Regional Planning and Environmental Center, began conducting field investigations on May 4, 2021, in the Port Arthur area. These investigations will begin on the western arm of the Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 (DD7) levee near Taylors Bayou and will continue throughout the month of May, along the DD7 easement as well as on any properties in the Orange County and Freeport reaches for which additional rights-of-entry have been secured. It is anticipated that investigations in the Freeport area will begin in early to mid-June.

  • Wallisville accepting Duck Blind applications

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, Wallisville Lake Project, Waterfowl Management Program is accepting seasonal duck blind drawing submissions by mail from May 1 to June 30, 2021, for the upcoming 2021/2022 waterfowl hunting season. A total of 50 seasonal duck blind construction permits will be offered along with 20 standby positions for this upcoming season.

  • USACE Galveston District announces pending closure for Corpus Christi Ship Channel South Jetty to repair damage caused by Hurricane Harvey

    UPDATED TO NOTE THE JETTIES ARE IN PORT ARANSAS: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District is giving public notice of the pending closure of portions of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel South Jetty to repair the jetty’s concrete cap. The closure is expected to begin on or about April 12, 2021 and last thru May 31, 2021 (Memorial Day weekend). The jetties are being repaired by USACE to fix wave damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall as a Category 4 storm.

  • Galveston District, Velasco Drainage District sign Project Partnership Agreement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and the Velasco Drainage District signed a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) March 16, 2021, to construct the Freeport and Vicinity Coastal Storm Risk Management Project (CSRM) element of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Authorized Project.

  • Galveston District evaluating permit application SWG-2015-00855

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District Regulatory Program is evaluating a Department of the Army permit application (SWG-2015-00855) submitted by Holtmar Land, LLC, for proposed dredging, bulkhead construction, and installation of three mooring piles at their project site located within, and adjacent to, the San Jacinto River.  This application is being evaluated under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.

  • Galveston District selects new Deputy District Engineer for Programs and Project Management

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District announces the selection of Byron D. Williams, PMP, as our new deputy district engineer for Programs and Project Management – the highest attainable civilian position within the Galveston District.

  • USACE Galveston District to host Industry Day for small business contractors

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Galveston District, will host a virtual Industry Day for small business government contractors March 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  The event helps small business navigate through the U.S. government’s contracting processes and presents upcoming work for fiscal year 2021.  It will also provide an opportunity for companies to network and meet potential vendors and subcontractors currently supporting the district’s contracting requirements. 

  • USACE Galveston District requests information for architect-engineering services

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Galveston District (SWG) is seeking industry feedback related to the development of an acquisition strategy. SWG is preparing an acquisition strategy for Architect and Engineering services with an approximate total capacity of $775 million. Over the next 10 years, SWG anticipates a program that could grow in excess of $20 billion in design and construction. Due to the acquisition lead time, SWG must start posturing contract capacity now. The planned execution strategy includes a combination of stand-alone A-E contract(s) and Indefinite Delivery Contracts (IDCs) under a Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) arrangement.
