  • USACE Galveston District awards small business contract for routine testing of dredged material

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 18, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, awarded a contract to Sol Engineering LLC, an 8(a) small business, in the amount of $72,152.12 for environmental services to include chemical and grain size analyses of water and sediment samples from the federally-maintained Corpus Christi Navigation Channel.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 17, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District is sponsoring a Great Minds in STEM event Sept. 19 from 6-7:30 p.m., and Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at The Rice School, 7550 Seuss Drive, in Houston.

  • USACE Galveston District awards $1.1 million contract for placement area DAMP

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 11, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, awarded a contract in the amount of $1,131,067 to RLB Contracting Inc., for dewatering and incremental levee raising at dredging placement areas 1 and 2 located north of the Harbor Causeway or Highway 181, on the east side of the Inner Harbor, Corpus Christi, Texas.

  • Wallisville Lake Project now issuing waterfowl hunting permits

    WALLISVILLE, Texas (Sept. 11, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office staff is now issuing waterfowl hunting permits for the 2013-2014 season as part of the Waterfowl Management Program’s hunting season.

  • District engages DEEP Water Horizon/RESTORE stakeholders

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 10, 2013) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District's Regulatory Branch staff met with Texas agencies in the summer to build a strategic partnership with respect to the Deep Water Horizon/RESTORE actions anticipated to involve multiple agency reviews and approvals. Texas General Land Office Deputy Commissioner of Coastal Resources, Helen Young, was the state's representative for developing the Gulf of Mexico Regional Ecosystem Restoration Strategy and remains a key advocate for facilitating Corps efforts to reach out to other agencies.

  • USACE Galveston District awards contract for geotechnical services at dredging placement area

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 6, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $370,250.81 to Baton Rouge, La.-based Quaternary Resources Investigations LLC for core drilling, soil sampling and laboratory testing at the Sabine Neches Waterway’s Placement Area 8.

  • USACE Galveston District awards $1.57 million contract for Addicks and Barker maintenance

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 5, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $1, 575,599 to Easky Construction for maintenance repair work at the Addicks and Barker reservoirs and dams, located in southeast Texas in the San Jacinto River basin approximately 17 miles west of downtown Houston.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 5, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Pete Perez was promoted to the Senior Executive Service and selected to assume the role of regional business director at the Southwestern Division in Dallas.
