GALVESTON, Texas (January 7, 2019) – The Galveston District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the non-Federal sponsor, Texas General Land Office, is extending the public comment period for 30 days for the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Study Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
The comment period for the Joint Notice of Availability for the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Study Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Draft Environmental Impact Statement published in the Federal Register on Friday, October 26, 2018, required comments be postmarked on or before January 9, 2019. About The Study:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the Texas General Land Office, began an examination in November 2015 of the feasibility of constructing projects for coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration along the Texas coast. The Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Feasibility Study, also known as the Coastal Texas Study, will involve engineering, economic and environmental analyses on large-scale projects, which may be considered by Congress for authorization and funding.
The study team encourages full public participation to promote open communication on the issues surrounding the study. In addition, participation by Federal, State, local agencies, and other interested organizations is encouraged.
You may participate in this process by providing comments for consideration by the study team. Public involvement is integral to assessing the environmental consequences of the proposed project and improving the quality of the environmental and feasibility decision making.
