GALVESTON, Texas (Oct. 2, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, awarded a contract Sept. 23, to Corpus Christi Ship C Jetty Repairs in the amount of $22,875,046 to repair the Corpus Christi Ship Channel (Aransas Pass) Jetties in Nueces and Aransas counties, Texas.

The contractor will use a pipeline dredge to remove approximately 15.7 million tons of armor stone and 4.7 million tons of blanket stone on sections of the north and south jetties.  Additionally, the contractor will replace a section of the concrete cap on the south jetty.

Work is expected to begin towards the end of 2019.

According to Steve Howard, operations project manager with USACE Galveston, repairs to the jetties are being made as a result of damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.  “Hurricane Harvey made landfall as a category 4 storm with large waves that impacted the jetties along Aransas Pass”, said Howard.  “It is critical the jetties be maintained to stabilize and reduce shoaling of Aransas Pass and the Corpus Christi Entrance Channel.”
