GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 5, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District Public Affairs Office was recognized with a Gold Award from the MarCom Awards competition for its USACE Galveston District employee newsletter – Sand Castle.
“The Sand Castle is an excellent communications tool that helps us provide staff with current information about district policies and updates, while stimulating conversation and encouraging feedback of our valued employees who serve in communities from the border of Louisiana to Brownsville along the Texas Coast,” said Col. Christopher W. Sallese, USACE Galveston District commander. “Blending print and electronic communication channels, the Sand Castle enumerates the successes and accomplishments of our employees who provide vital public engineering services in peace and war to strengthen the nation’s security, energize the economy and reduce risks from disasters.”
The MarCom Awards, managed by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs.
The Sand Castle publication is created in-house by the Public Affairs Office team and distributed monthly to employees.
