GALVESTON, Texas (Oct. 8, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a $2,282,500 contract to RLB Contracting Inc., for the expansion of the Chocolate Bayou Placement Area 4, located in Brazoria County, Texas.

“The navigation project located between the communities of Galveston and Freeport in Brazoria County, Texas, provides a 12-feet-deep, 125-feet-wide shallow draft channel, which extends 8.2 miles from its junction,” said Shakhar Misir, USACE Galveston District project manager. “The expansion of PA 4 will provide future capacity for placement of maintenance dredge material from the upper reach of the channel.”

According to Misir, this project will support a long-term management plan that will enhance safety and economic efficiencies along the channel.

The contract is expected to begin in November 2015 and is scheduled to be completed by May 2016.
