    USACE to go door-to-door to secure rights-of-entry from individual landowners in Freeport vicinity to access property as part of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Project

    GALVESTON, Texas –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, Real Estate Division will be going door-to-door in the vicinity of Freeport on September 28-29, to secure rights-of-entry from individual landowners in order to access property as part of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay, Texas Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) and Ecosystem Restoration Project. The rights-of-entry are necessary to conduct various investigative activities (surveys, cultural resource investigations, geotechnical investigations) and will be mostly along the existing levee alignment.

    District awards $15.4 Mil contract to dredge Freeport Lower Stauffer Reach channel

    GALVESTON, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $15,494,310 to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, LLC for the first phase of the Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project.

    Wallisville Lake Project now accepting applications for the 2020 – 2021 feral hog removal season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office staff is now accepting applications for feral hog removal using trained dogs and trapping. The project will offer 30 permits to individuals using trained dogs through a random drawing. Applications from dog hunters will be accepted during the month of September. A limited number of trapping permits will also be available throughout the year to those interested in trapping feral hogs on project lands.

    Addicks and Barker Reservoirs launch Feral Hog Management Program and permit drawing

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, Addicks Field Office is launching a Feral Hog Management Program and is accepting annual feral hog applications from Sept. 15 thru Oct. 15, for the upcoming 2020-2021 hog trapping season.

    Wallisville Lake Project waterfowl hunting permits available digitally for 2020-2021 waterfowl season

    GALVESTON, Texas - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office is now digitally issuing waterfowl hunting permits for the 2020 - 2021 season. According to Park Ranger Mark Tyson, “the new digital process was created in response to the current COVID-19 situation facing the nation.” Permits will no longer be issued in person at the Visitors Center.

    Galveston District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Signs MOU to Enhance Understanding of Gulf Sediments

    GALVESTON, Texas – Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) (a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Interior) and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to streamline and synchronize Gulf of Mexico sediment resource identification data for use in Texas coastal protection and restoration plans and projects.

    USACE Galveston District and Port Freeport sign project partnership agreement to begin construction of the Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project

    GALVESTON, Texas –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District is pleased to announce the signing of a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) with the Port Freeport Commission, effective June 23, 2020, for the Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project (FHCIP) to deepen and widen the Freeport Channel.

    Corps announces Corpus Christi Ship Channel jetty repairs to begin mid-June

    CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced the start of repairs to the entrance jetty of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel located at Aransas Pass. Actual work on the project is scheduled to begin in mid-June.
