    USACE will honor new America the Beautiful federal recreation annual pass for military

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 15, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it will begin accepting the America the Beautiful Federal Recreation Pass Program’s new Interagency Annual Pass for Military (Military Pass) at its more than 2,500 USACE-managed recreation areas nationwide.

    USACE Galveston District awards $2.7 million contract to dredge lower reach of GIWW’s Channel to Victoria

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 9, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract to Orion Marine Construction Inc., in the amount of $2,687,000 for maintenance dredging of the lower reach of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway’s (GIWW) Channel to Victoria in Calhoun County, Texas.

    Project Update: USACE Galveston District to remove remaining 150 feet of submerged pipeline from Houston Ship Channel

    HOUSTON (May 1, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District contracted with Weeks Marine Inc., for the removal of approximately 150 feet of submerged pipeline from the Houston Ship Channel which will begin at 8 a.m., May 2, 2012. The navigation channel is expected to remain closed until 2 p.m.

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 20, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, awarded a contract to Manson Construction Co., in the amount of $3,234,150 for maintenance dredging of the Sabine Pass Outer Bar and Bank Channel, Texas.

    USACE Galveston District to temporarily close GIWW

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 13, 2012) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, will temporarily close the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway at the West Gate of the Brazos River Floodgates beginning April 17, 2012, to conduct repair work and ensure the structural integrity of the west floodgate and guide walls along the navigation channel.

    HOUSTON (April 9, 2012) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District contracted with Weeks Marine Inc., for the removal of approximately 550 feet of submerged pipeline from the Houston Ship Channel which will begin at 8 a.m., April 10. The navigation channel is expected to remain closed until 2 a.m., April 11.

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 5, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract to Sol Engineering LLC, an 8(a) small business, in the amount of $42,155.24 for environmental services to include a study comprised of collection and chemical analyses of water and sediment samples from the federally-maintained Texas City Navigation Channel.
